De Jaren Cafe in Amsterdam
With an Italian flare, plenty of open seating and choice eating, De Jaren makes for a great choice in any situation. If you desire to relax and read a paper, sit on the terrace and overlook the Amstel, or meet someone to begin a lovely night on the town, you can certainly be satisfied here. They even take group reservations for up to 35 for lunch or dinner and up to 100 for a simple drink party.
Surprisingly one does not have to pay anything more than expected in order to enjoy a lovely lunch experience here. Their tomato soup and broodjes seem to have a good reputation around town. The ‘Borrel hapjes’ or snacks that accompany your drink come at a slightly higher price, as well as the international choices served for dinner. However this is expected, since it is just set off of the tourist-filled Rokin street.
Due to its prime location De Jaren is quite the connection point. The Muntplein and Rembrandtplein are just on the other side of the river. The Waterlooplein is a few minutes from the side and the Dam Square is right up the road. It also allows you to be near to the city’s public transportation. Be it a play, a movie or simply a stroll along the waterway, this is a sure place to take a breather.
Cafe Hours: 10.00-23.00 and Friday/Saturday until 24.00. Restaurant open at 17.30
