Sofitel Legend The Grand Hotel in Amsterdam
Location
This luxurious hotel is located in a monumental 17 C. Renaissance building at Oudezijds Voorburgwal, an Amsterdam canal street near the Oude Kerk, not far from the Dam square and the Royal Palace, close to the Munt tower, just out of the Red Light quarter and also not far from the Central Station. But if you would think that the Sofitel Legend surroundings must be very busy — you would be wrong. It is a quiet property with its own spacious courtyard with a palace-like feeling and its own quiet garden terrace. And while the building which used to be Amsterdam City Hall where the former Dutch Queen Beatrix and her German partner Prince Claus von Amsberg married in 1966, has a truly monumental allure, the moment you enter the Sofitel Legend you are astonished how friendly and welcoming its interior is.
